District Policing Partnership
North Down District Policing Partnership provides a unique opportunity, through partnership, between members and the local community for local people to shape local policing. The Partnership will facilitate dialogue between the Police and the local community.
The DPP was established by Council and 75% funded by the Northern Ireland Policing Board. Membership of 19 Members comprising of 10 Elected Members and 9 Independent Members.
The purpose of the District Policing Partnership is to identify local policing issues; to establish policing priorities for the local policing plan in conjunction with the District Commander; to monitor Police performance against the policing plan; to develop practical ways of gaining the public's co-operation in working with the Police to prevent crime and protect the public; and to act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of the district
We will continue to consult with the public and undertake surveys in North Down to determine people's attitudes to policing and policing priorities. The results are published on an annual basis and the results passed to the District Commander for inclusion in the North Down Local Policing Plan. Copies can be obtained by contacting the DPP office.
We will hold at least six meetings in public per year at different venues throughout the Borough and Members of the public are encouraged to attend all meetings in public of the District Policing Partnership. These meetings will offer the opportunity to learn about initiatives being undertaken by the Police, how issues of crime and community safety are being addressed and to observe the District Commander's response to questions posed by Members of the District Policing Partnership.
In accordance with the Code of Practice for the operation of District Policing Partnerships, provision is made for any person living or working in North Down or any person directly affected by the policing of North Down to direct a question to the PSNI District Commander. Such questions shall be raised by the Chairman of the DPP and responded to by the District Commander at a meeting in public.
If you wish to ask a question, please contact the DPP Manager on 028 9127 8054 or alternatively visit http://www.districtpolicing.com/.
Facilities are available at the Town Hall for those persons who require assistance with the submission of questions.
