Early Christians in North Down School Tour

The tour will begin at the Museum, in the company of a monk. The visit to the Abbey will be followed by a walk through the Castle Park. Along the way the monk will tell a story or demonstrate a craft. The last stage of the tour will be in the Museum, where children will be involved in an activity (one activity per visit - to be agreed on booking):

  • A monk's lunch
  • Illuminated writing
  • Working with wattle

Vikings in Bangor visit

We are now offering a school visit for KS2 to North Down Museum

  • Tour of Viking Artefacts
  • Living History Presentation - viking in costume

The visit will last approx 2 hrs and can be arranged for morning or afternoon. Maxmum Fee £2.75 per child.

World War 2 visit KS2

A presentation of the main themes of WW2 with the use of objects such as gas masks, ration books, uniforms, weapons,sound effects, music, posters, photographs.

An attempt is made to link the events of the war with the North Down locality.
Approx 1hr 30mins with a short break half way through. A few children will be dressed in various uniforms.

There will be an opportunity for children to look at objects and photographs.
This session can be booked for the Museum or for your own classroom
Price £1.50 per child (Minimum 25 children)

Meet the Victorians

Victorian Week for schools 10 - 13 June
Sessions available between 10.00 and 12.00
Visit the exhibition of Victorian memorabilia - toys,furniture, linens, militaria

School visits include an indoor session with costumed interpreteurs covering topics such as "the big house" - servants - laundry day, toys and pastimes for rich and poor, school, and all things military.

This is followed by an outdoor session which takes in the architecture and history of theTown Hall with photos of the Ward family home, a trip to the family grave, a game of croquet on the west lawn.
Price £1.50 per child
