Brian Wilson has been a Councillor for Bangor West for 29 years topping the poll in the last 6 local elections.
He was Mayor of North Down in 1993/94 and represents North Down in the NI Assembly as the only Green Party MLA.
Brian has been a member of the Green Party since 2004. Prior to that, he stood as an independent and, previously, a member of the Alliance Party.
Before being elected to the NI Assembly Brian was a senior lecturer in economics at the Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education for 25 years.
His interests include the environment, health, education, the rating system and community relations. He is particularly concerned by the planning system and the lack of input by local councillors in planning decisions.
Brian is at present a member of the Board of Governors of Rathmore Primary School and St Columbanus' College.
He has a long record of service on many public bodies including:

He is a member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth.
